The Petros Nomikos Conference Center in Santorini: The Thera Foundation has been playing a pioneering role in promoting Santorini's unique culture, tradition, and heritage. It comprises a non-profit organization set up in 1969 by Petros M. Nomikos. The Thera Foundation also owes a lot to the innovative spirit of Petros Nomikos who, in cooperation with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the University of Cincinnati Urban Planning Department, provides the much-needed impetus to run this one-of-a-kind organization in this part of the world.
The Petros Nomikos Conference Centre was established in 1989. Located in Fira, it is a landmark in its own right. The splendid Caldera and the mythical volcano provide the perfect backdrop to this magnificent building. The center can host about 220 guests. Theatre-style, classroom-style, and conference-style arrangements may be booked in advance.
The Centre hosts numerous high-profile conferences every year. The foundation continuously gains the support and cooperation of the international scientific community through organizing international congresses, conferences, seminars, publications of books, and exhibitions. Additionally, it is involved in organizing a wide range of other innovative educational programs to attract the attention of the world community to the fascinating Aegean art and culture.
